The San Francisco Giants have reached a deal to acquire star third baseman Kris Bryant from the Chicago Cubs, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Friday.

Bryant was drafted by the Cubs in 2013, winning Rookie of the Year and MVP in consecutive seasons.

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Jose Berrios from the Minnesota Twins, according to a source.

The Twins will receive the Blue Jays' No. 2-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Austin Martin and right-hander Simeon Woods-Richardson, who is ranked fourth.

Berrios, 27, is under team control through 2022 as an arbitration-eligible player.

Having missed out on Max Scherzer, the San Diego Padres have made Jose Berrios their "primary target" as the trade deadline nears.

A trade with the Minnesota Twins for Berrios isn't San Diego's only course of action, though, as they could make multiple additions to the starting rotation.

Berrios is controllable via arbitration through 2022. He is making $6.1 million this season.

The Colorado Rockies have "no plans" to trade Jon Gray or Daniel Bard, according to a report.

The Rockies are in fourth place, leading to speculation that Gray and/or Bard would be dealt prior to the trade deadline.

The San Diego Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Daniel Hudson from the Washington Nationals, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Hudson is currently on the COVID-19 injured list. He's 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 31 appearances this season.

While several teams are in the mix, the Toronto Blue Jays continue to show "big interest" in Jose Berrios, according to a report.

The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are also in the mix for Berrios.

Toronto entered Thursday 4 1/2 games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League.

The New York Mets and Chicago Cubs are discussing the possibility of a Kris Bryant trade, according to a report.

The Cubs are also talking about Zach Davies with the Mets, who need both infield depth and pitching.

Bryant is scheduled to become a free agent after the season.

The Seattle Mariners have acquired reliever Diego Castillo from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa Bay will receive reliever J.T. Chargois and a Minor League infielder Austin Shenton.

Castillo will likely serve as closer for the Mariners, who traded Kendall Graveman to the Houston Astros earlier this week.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a trade with the Washington Nationals for both Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, according to multiple reports.

According to reports, Washington will receive catching prospect Keibert Ruiz, starting pitcher Josiah Gray, right-hander Gerardo Carrillo and outfielder Donovan Casey.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are close to acquiring Danny Duffy from the Kansas City Royals, according to a report.

The Royals are expected to receive a player to be named in return.

Duffy, 32, has 10-and-5 rights, allowing him to veto any trade.

The left-hander, who has posted a 2.51 ERA in 13 outings this season, hasn't pitched since July 16 and is on the 10-day injured list with a left flexor strain.
